Bored of the tasteless turkey, boiled brussels or plain pudding? Then its time to Spice up your Christmas with the help of Fergus, the founder of Gran Luchito. He know’s a thing or two about making flavoursome food, inspired by a trip to Oaxaca in South Mexico where he discovered smoked chillies which became the focal point of the Gran Luchito product range. Over there chilies are part of the daily diet and are found in most foods, as well as giving great flavour it’s traditionally believed that the heat of the chilli wards off evil spirits!
Being a bit of a food connoisseur, we asked Fergus for some ideas to spice up our usual xmas dinner, giving it a macho twist and to make the flavours really stand out, here are his awesome recipes to try this Christmas…
Smokin Hot Brussels Sprouts with Bacon
pack of bacon ( cut into strips)
Gran Luchito Paste
Olive oil & salt
Cut Brussels sprouts into quarters and plunge into salted boiling water. Boil for 1 min drain and cool using running tap water.
In a roasting tray mix the sprouts along with bacon, dash of olive oil and heaped soon of Gran Luchito. Roast at 180c for 25 mins.
Chilli Honey Glazed Carrots

Peel carrots, plunge into salted boiling water and boil for 1 min. Drain and cool under running tap water. In roasting pan mix carrots, 3 heap teaspoons of honey and sprinkle of salt. Roast for 20 mins at 190c
Mexican Pineapple Dessert
Fresh pineapple cut into chunks ( you can also used tinned pineapple)

Don’t get us wrong, come 1st December each year we love nothing more than a good old chocolate advent calendar stood proud on the fireplace. The chocolate may have a distinct plastic tang and it has crossed our minds that the chocolates we’re chomping down on haven’t seen the light of day for too many years than can possibly be healthy but the thought of going without (or heaven forbid, mum forgetting to buy us one) well, it’s just not worth thinking about.
However, it’s also not escaped our notice that knocking around on the internet are some larger than life, I’ll take your chocolate calendar & raise you, ultimate ‘super calendars’! We’re talking ….
The genius that came up with this literally deserves a spot on the New Years honours list. It’s the ultimate DIY, homemade countdown, fill a box with 24 (or 25 if you’re feeling check) of you fav beers & just let the days roll.
Obviously we always condone drinking responsibly but a beer a day in Dec, completely acceptable).
Bubble wrap calendar
There’s definitely something overwhelmingly satisfying about the thought of popping an oversized plastic bubble of air. Although, there’s no guarantee we could resist from popping the entire calendar in huge scrunch.
Lego advent calendar
Imagine, just image being a kid again & receiving a brand new piece of LEGO every single day up until Christmas. Mind blowing! Now, we may be all grown up but really , who could be disappointed by this on 1st December?
The Ultimate in luxury – €1Mil Porsche calendar
Crack out the plastic boys, with gifts ranging from luxury watches to motor yachts we can only imagine what our actual Christmas pressies will be. Oh wait, damn it, standing at 1.75metres tall we’re not sure it will fit in the flat. Well, we’ll get buying a new, bigger flat & keep a mental note to look out for next year’s edition.

With distinctly colder weather now starting to settle in we’re really not going to get away with wearing our regular jeans, t-shirt combo for much longer. It may seem that merely a blink of an eye passed & we’re into winter yet again but we find ourselves in the same predicament, what to wear?
Panic not dear friends as there are a few seasonal saviours we have up our sleeves to ensure there’s less time spent getting the clothes right & more time to focus on the great winter festivities like beers down the pub in front of an open fire, hmmm.
As we find ourselves entering the coldest season of the year, lets face it, most of what we wear gets covered by a huge winter coat (Reminder: this season you wanna go for a parka or woollen pea coat) so get this right & you’ve won half the battle. BUT, as you may have come to notice, over the last few years what was once considered the most feared traditional Christmas apparel has now become a uniquely popular holiday trend all of its very own and what we think of as the perfect fall back during the colder months.
Seeing as the build up to Christmas Day seems to extend every year we reckon, if you can’t beat em, join em! We’re talking…
Now, we’ve reported before about the revolutionary rise in popularity the Christmas jumper has seen over the last couple of years so if you’ve not embraced it yet, now really is the time. We’re not saying you have to go all out with a DIY, sticky taped tinsel & lights job, something like the below:
Comedy socks & slippers
Fancying a night in out of the cold? You can’t beat a comfy pair of trackie bottoms (or pjs if you own any), your fave hoodie & to finish it off some cracking festiva socks & a pair of oversized novelty slippers. Bound to trip you up & have you skidding all over the show but who’s the one with nice warm feet, eh?
It’s seems there’s a lot of buzz this year about the new ‘twosie’ but we must admit we’re not all that convinced. Come on, anyone who’s already an avid fan of sporting onesie is already aware of its particular lets say, ‘logistical issues’ but to add to that being cocooned with another – well, lets not even go there!
Cable knit sweaters
Caught up with all the other distractions & demands that the magical holiday season brings, we’re talking gift buying, party attending, the endless food / alcohol coma-fied state we find ourselves in that even beginning to think about what to wear this winter is just too much of a strain on the old grey matter? Enter the old trusty cable knit sweater, warm, comfy, goes with everything, hides the minced pie / mulled wine gut that’s already started to appear – all your ‘what to wear this winter’ dilemmas sorted!
Check out all these great items & more over in our Christmas Gift Shop now.
We think it’s is safe to say that if you’re looking for a new pair of boxers this Christmas, that perfect secret Santa present or looking for ways to embarrass your mates then our novelty Christmas pants are the only way to go.
We’ve got them all! Including: ‘Un-wrap me trunks’, ‘Polish my baubles trunks’ and not forgetting ‘Empty my sack trunks’
Just take a look at these bad boys…
What man wouldn’t put these on his Christmas list? If you unwrap these babies’s Christmas morning you are one lucky lucky guy.
Even Santa himself admits he wants a pair of our cheeky boxers this Christmas. These Christmas pants are as iconic as Christmas jumpers and are definitely a funny must have this festive season. Get all your mates wearing them and rock up to your Christmas office party like this…
That’s bound to turn a few heads and grab all the ladies attention for sure!
We asked you for your best Christmas boxers pun and you sure came up with some good ones. You gave us ‘Keep your baubles warm’, ‘A great way to gift wrap your package for a loved one’ and ‘with a pair of these festive boxers on your baubles will be twinkling’ ! We couldn’t agree more.
Your wardrobe can’t possibly be complete without a novelty pair of Christmas pants, paired with your Christmas jumper and get yourself out there.
These are most definitely a festive treat for your Christmas stocking.
